Urban Safari Rescue/Cinemazoo Reptile Vsits!

Cinemazoo/Urban Safari Rescue are bringing some of their fascinating creatures in for a visit! The past few years they have had mammals, reptiles and critters galore. JUST ANNOUNCED: Cinemazoo/Urban Safari Rescue has confirmed they are bringing tarantulas, scorpion, lizards, snakes, tortise, rabbit, ferret and a Sugar Glider! Be sure to bring your camera. They will be joining us as part of our Fall Family Fun Weekend... (see below for details!)

Family Fun Weekend

Take part in our Goodie Bag Scavenger Hunt, take photos in our Photo Op area and get some temporary tattoos with Almost Inked! It's a great weekend for the whole family take part. Don't forget Urban Safari Rescue/Cinemazoo Reptile visits from 2pm-4pm on both days (see above).

SPCA Pet Photos with Santa

We are thrilled to once again host Pet Photos with Santa to raise money for the Chilliwack SPCA. Photos are by donation (Minimum $10 donation please). Bring your furry friends to Country Garden on November 29 with Santa! All funds raised from this event will benefit the animals rescued and cared for by the BC SPCA Chilliwack Branch.

Pet food donations are respectfully declined, but if you would like to bring SPCA animals something special, new toys are appreciated.

Apple Fest

Join us for Apple Fest and celebrate this fantastic, healthy, and plentiful fruit! This free event is fun for the whole family including: An apple care seminar with Brian, fresh fruit juicing by the 'Mobile Juice Factory', gourmet apples from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, fresh baked apple specials in our Callicarpa Cafe and plenty of Okanagan apples available for purchase. It's going to be a great day, rain or shine!

9am-2pm: Fresh fruit juicing with Mobile Juice Factory. As seen on CBCs 'Dragons' Den', the MJF takes fresh apples or pears and turns them into delicious, 100% natural juice, right before your eyes! Come and watch them in action as they turn our apples into juice and be sure to try a free sample too! 5L boxes of juice will be available for purchase for $13.95 each or 2 for $25 (plus tax).

Landscape Speed Dating

Is the chemistry gone between you and your green space? Let Brian Minter spice up your garden's glove life during 'Landscape Speed Dating'!

During these free, 15 minute, rapid-fire landscape sessions, Brian will review the photos* that you bring, discuss what you want your garden's 'personality' to be (i.e. low maintenance, year-round colour, fragrant etc.) and then come up with a simple design plan to rekindle the magic. Sessions must be booked in advance, so please call 604.792.6612 to register (only eight spaces are available!).

*Attendees are encouraged to bring as many photos of their yard as they can and general dimensions too. Should you feel you need more than 15 minutes, Brian offers 30 minute complimentary landscape sessions (also by appointment only) on Monday and Tuesday evenings. Hanne H. will show guests just how easy canning can be, which foods work best, what tools you need and where to find them, other preserving methods (like freezing) and more!

As an added bonus, Hanne is a garlic farmer and will discuss the key points of growing and preparing garlic. This is perfect timing as this is THE weekend to plant!

JUST ANNOUNCED: local honey farmer Virginia will also be on hand to give advice on local honey and how to use it as a natural pectin in your preserves. For those who really want a natural, sweet, finished product, this is the way to do it!

National Plastics Recycling Week

June 20 to July 1, 2014
During Store Hours

Gather up your plastic pots and trays, bring them to the designated area in our parking lot, sort them by size and we'll make send them off for recycling! Please note, plastics must be marked/stamped with the triangle symbol to be eligible for recycling. No advance drop offs please, as the area will only be set up for receiving as of the 20th.

Need to tidy up sooner (or after the 1st)? Plastics marked with the recycling triangle symbols can be recycled through curb-side recycling in Chilliwack.
